Zakhar's heart leapt into his mouth when the other colt responded with as much excitement as he had hoped for. He ceased his bouncing, and instead stood practically quivering as he awaited Bjorn's first move. However, his anticipation gave way to hesitation and befuddlement when the shorter grullo reached out to touch him and then attempted to spin away as if he had stolen something from him. "Tag!" the colt shouted, and Zakhar tilted his head, a crease forming between his eyes. He opened his mouth to ask what the word meant, then burst into laughter when he noticed Bjorn's predicament.
Then Bjorn untangled himself and began sprinting away before Zakhar could so much as blink. "Wait!" the blue roan called, and leapt into a sprint after his newfound companion. His long legs ate up the distance between them easily, but by the time he reached Bjorn his sides were heaving and his little nostrils flaring heavily with quick breaths. Still, he managed a smile as he reached out to the colt in a mimicry of what Bjorn had done to him. "Tag?" he said, his smile tilting into a crooked grin, but already his mind was racing, trying to piece together ideas of other games they could play. There was so much to do!
Before Bjorn could run away again, Zakhar lifted his dark head proudly and trotted in a circle around him. "I bet I'm faster than you! I got long, strong legs, just like my momma. Your daddy's only the little pony king, isn't he?" He ceased his circling and came to stand at Bjorn's front with a confident expression. "I don't know my daddy, but I bet he's tall and fast like the wind. I should give you a head start. It's only fair." Zakhar flashed his crooked grin again.
