Ice Mountain

The Ice Mountain is much smaller than Wolf Mountain, yet climbing up it is far more difficult and shouldn't be attempted in winter. Some creatures collect the shiny stones at the peak of this mountain for necklaces.

It had been several days since Marrow was blessed with the Candy-cane-icorn. The black bear was not sure what kind of plan the Mountain had for her and this red and white mythical, or if it was making fun of her. Marrow looked over her shoulder. Just like she had checked last time, the foal only stared at her, looking just as impatient as the day it appeared.

"I already told you I am not your mother," Marrow grumbled. She went back to her work: an icy hole made in the hopes of finding an unusual stone. Because of the ice her claws were already sore after a few inches had been dug out. "I don't know why you stay."

No reply from the foal.

"Why don't you use your horn and help find me some stones?" Marrow said as she went to a new spot to dig. "'Stead of standing around being useless."

It now became evident that, although the foal did not speak, she was listening. The Candy-cane-icorn dipped it's head and began to till the snow and ice. It made small pips of effort with irritation in its eyes.

"Alright then. Such a strange creature ..." Marrow took a moment to look down the icy peak. The black bear had been careful not to climb too high up the peak for the foal's sake, and it would have been foolish to do so during this season. Despite keeping to the peak'slower ground, they were high enough to see much of the land below them. Shama Forest was closest, but Marrow could also make out the profile of Wolf Mountain's jaws howling above the clouds.
