Boss's Decree

"For every brother you bring to our
midst, you may keep a trinket all to
yourself. She will not be sullied or traded, unless you deem otherwise. But should you bring a mare here without a new brother first, then I will consider her property of the Lagoon as a whole
and do with her as I see fit." - Garmr

Rules

• The Lagoon is where homeless stallions come to live as a brotherhood. Mares may not live here except as captives or companions for the Leaders.

• Soldiers keep mainly to fighting, Thieves keep mainly to raiding, and Associates may do both, neither, or act as diplomats. Members may issue their own battles and raids, but should generally consult the General, Marauder or Boss for permission.

• All major decisions are determined by vote, but the Boss maintains order within the Lagoon and has the final say.

• Elections for leadership positions will be held every TLI summer, provided the qualifying criteria are met.

• You can find detailed information about how the Lagoon works on the Rules page.

• Upon election, the Boss can issue a rule for members to follow during their tenure. It is up to leadership to enforce.

barely breathing

the fire in my heart
will burn me to the ground

It was colder now, but Sandman barely noticed. He had not left the Lagoon for weeks now, after he had returned from the Peak empty-handed and bitter. He had not spoken to anyone either. A few had approached, and he had seen the grey male he’d met before, but if anyone had attempted to make conversation, Sandman had retreated with his head held low. A bleak darkness had settled upon him, and it would be impossible to draw him out until it left him, or he broke free.

He was standing in a small clearing, snowflakes glittering in his dirty silver mane, and his body felt stiff and tired, for he had not moved from the small patch of mostly-dry and solid ground he’d managed to find. This time he couldn’t be sure what it had been that had brought him back to himself, and as he often did, he fought to remember. It was no use – even his mind was against him. Today, though, this did not upset him as much as it often did. Somewhere, there was a lone bird singing. Sandman liked to think it was this that had woken him from his misery.

With a grunt, he forced himself into motion, relishing the protest of his stiff joints and aching muscles, because it reminded him that he was alive. He felt empty, not just physically, but emotionally. For the first time since he’d come back here, Sandman desired to speak with one of his brothers, any of them, or even one of the few mares that called the Lagoon home (whether by choice, or by circumstance). He knew he’d not likely find the lady from the Peak again, and this realisation made him both glad, and a little disappointed. Shaking his head, Sandman snorted, and turned towards the sound of another, but he couldn’t see anyone, and no-one approached, so he continued on his way a little while, before stopping somewhere more sheltered.

The snowflakes in his mane had all but melted, but they glistened still, as the dirty, skinny silver-black male shivered for a while where he stood. Belatedly he noticed the aching in his belly, and he wondered how long it had been since he’d last eaten. Half-heartedly, he rooted around for some edible vegetation, but was unable to find much. What he really wanted was companionship, and perhaps later, if the ache didn’t leave, he’d find someone he felt comfortable asking to lead him to a better grazing ground. It was not important though. Sandman was used to such discomfort. Some days, he thought he brought it upon himself, just so that he’d be kept company by something familiar, and not be entirely alone.
