show me where forever dies
Pain. These last few weeks had been nothing but pain. The engorged flesh which now is stretched taunt due to her children within to her crushed soul that has done nothing but weep, cry at the loss of a bond she cannot even began to explain. The chilly reminder of winter is expressed on this night as she sits outside his den. The fog that puffs from each exhale, each painful breath. Yet she is silent. Silent and Lost. Joints ache and groan, the extra weight seems to make it hard to breath. So much pain. She knows it is coming to an end, that soon she will look upon the very lives that had created with her bloody giant. A soft smile flutters on her lips as a sharp pain takes her breath away and turns her smile into a grimace. A silent whimper on her lips. As he head soon hangs lows as her breathes begin to quicken. Eyes shut tight. A cry pleading to be removed from her sealed lips. She knows it is time, knows that tonight her life will be gifted with a treasure she had only dreamed of. Though her fear is there, the fear of failing them there is also a joy that no one could ever match. They were her blood, her flesh, her heart. And it was time to bring them into this world.
The contractions had started mid day, starting off a fleeting nuisance until they turned into something unbearable. She had wallowed in her earthen dirt of Ifrits den, grunting and writhing while her swollen belly seemed to contained cramped dancers within. Praying the others would not hear her soft spoken whimpers. In those beginning hours she has sung to them, attempting to calm her little ones. She had done this every night in secret since conception, for only them. A song of love, of hope, of happiness. She knows they can hear her or so she hopes for every night them seem to still and listen to her rasped melody. After the pain had waved, allowing her to leave Ifrit's den for a last minute meal knowing for the coming days she would not leave them. Wondering when he will return. It is now she sits at the opening of his den, taking the pain as she tries to find the strength to move into her den. As a contraction fades she knows she must move quickly in order to beat the one she knows will be following quickly. As she moves to stand her back legs quiver, shaking uncontrollably as she stands. Faltering for a moment before she finds her footing and moves to turn, waddling with as much grace as her worn body can give her. Her steps are slow, taking her past the entrance but before she can make it to the back of the dirt wall her legs give out, and a painful cry escapes from her lips. Tear begins to form within her eyes as another contraction begins. Resolve settles in with the pain and she is determined to bring them into this world in the safest place possible as she begins to crawl to the far back wall. Grunts - both painful and strong willed escape her jaws, teeth grinding as she will not deny them safety no matter how bad it hurts. For this battle has only begun and she will not be weak for them.
A heavy exhale is given as she sprawls along the back of his den, her breathing is labored. Her belly rising in quick repetitions as her paws blindly scrabble with the soil beneath her. Her neck strains back as she bares her teeth and snarls, pushing as her body demands. Her snarls soon turn into screams, attempting to contain her cries as her teeth clench upon her tongue. As it fades, her body is tight - muscles so tense she can feel her already aching body seem to groan out loud at the added strain. It is now in this brief respite that she calls him. Her giant, for he has not yet heard her cries he will hear her call. For he is all she has left right now, Reich was gone and she needed Ifrit close.
Hours pass, her mind is exhausted her body is so tired. She only focuses on the pain. Unknown to anything that is around her. For the first time in her life she is truly scared, the fear overwhelms her as if a storm ready to capsize her. Her whimpers fill the den as her body is trying it's best to expel her little ones. Her cries are long, until her rasped voice seems to give out and then she cries in silence. Tears leak from her orange eyes, as she continues. Never giving up, for she needs them. Needs them here. She needs to hold them, love them, care for them. They are her dream. A sudden burst of strength as she she pushes with an ungodly roar. Then silence.
Her nose wrinkles at the scent of her blood, her chest heaving but even in her weak state she lifts her head from the dirt to look back. There coiled as if some magical treasure is a pup, a blood red pup accented in white. A cry of happiness is given as she sobs quietly at the sight of the her son. A giant from her giant, she knows now why the pain was fierce but before she can attempt to move and coddle her newborn as he writhes with life her head is thrown back into the dirt as she bares herself down. Mindful of the pup that is so near as she screams. So much pain, the scent of blood is heavy. Was this normal? Wasn't the first one suppose to be the worst? Her already pounding heart seems to accelerate further is possible as a feeling of unease enters her mind. Something was wrong. She cries, wanting to run away from the pain but her weak body does not move from it's collapsed state as she pushes and pushes.
Though it does not take longer than the first it is still longer than she hoped. Already is her vision wavering, black spots dancing in her sight. Too weak to move her head and check on the child she knows has joined it's brother. Trying in vain to look back upon her little ones. Hoping it was over and could rest for a moment and regain some strength to care for them. As she lays there heaving for oxygen as she tastes the blood in the air she breathes in. That is all she can smell is the blood, she hopes Ifrit is already here. It feels as if she is deaf and blind. Her ears pounding to the beat of her rushing heart, her sight swarmed in shadows. In the moment she hopes she is not alone, she hopes for the first time in her life there is someone near she can depend upon, for her children to have. For it is as she can do to breath and stay conscious. Minutes pass and if anything her body feels worse but it seems her body is not done. The pain is constant yet she knows the one that is coming is smaller than the first two, as ears flicker catching just the briefest of sounds of the arrival of another before she is once again swarmed with her own heartbeat. As her vision darkness further, she sobs silently knowing that now her body is failing her. In this moment she is weak, unfit to protect those she is birthing. Already does she feel as if she is failing them. A numbing sensation begins to slowly take her paws as another contraction takes her breath away.
Her mind is screaming at her, screaming at her to stay awake for her children. Unknowing if he is near, hoping in this instant her giant will charge in a save them for she is fading. She feels the loss of the fourth child as her body seems to fall lax, a tickle of liquid is felt beneath her as her blood seeps into the soil, nuzzling noses bumping into her numbing legs as they seek to nurse. Yet she can't even move to help them as she cries into the dirt, using what little strength she has to whisper slurred words to them almost incoherent.
"I love you." A half joyous laugh/sob breaking free from her chest as her vision seems to dim further. Knowing her fight is fleeing, those words giving them what her body is denying her. As she begins to hum their song from her lips, the heartbeat in her ears once strong and proud seems to slow and stutter. Until the song she sings for them dies on her lips and she can no longer stay awake, so tired. Drifting off as she hopes she will wake soon to look upon her little loves.
take the fall and run to heaven
