the animal is unmistakable to any one who has seen "Charlie the lonesome cougar" or any Disney flick about nature. or is just into big cats . that being said. they are ghost like in their wanderings. and tend to avoid human contact at all costs. this may explain why they choose not to be found. after all we did hunt them almost into extinction. maybe they are smarter than we think. try following a feral stray cat for a day ,chances are it will lose you at some point. my point is there is plenty of food and den sights and space for them to exist and if we have learned any thing about the adaptability of some species. If left alone it will find a way. I hope this is true for the puma
