Gabbar
stallion . arabian . bay . 14.3hh . 6
It is on Gabbar’s return to the Dunes that he encounters a new scent, that of a male, and the bay Arabian wastes no time in following it across the sands of his home. The sky is dark but the stars are bright and they light his way as he trots gracefully down the side of a whitewashed dune. He did not find El Halin on the Crossing, though he is encouraged by the experiences he did have while away from Salem. He longs to find the High Seer soon so that he may share with her the existence of the white foal. She will be interested in what he observed, he thinks, but he puts these thoughts to the back of his head as he hoists himself over the crest of a dune and sees the stranger in his home.

Gabbar bugles a warning. This breeder is taller than him, much like the white-faced stallion he drove out of the Dunes, but less stocky. He is dark, darker than Gabbar in color, but there is no dish to his face nor is there enough slenderness to him to play a convincing Akhal-Teke. This is all that Gabbar observes in the time it takes to reach the stranger, and given that the other breeder is not a Purebred, the Arabian treats him as an intruder. His ears flatten to his poll and he flags his black tail as he digs in his hind feet and slides about a foot as he comes to a stop, using the end of his momentum to rise up on his haunches and strike out at the stranger with both forehooves. Defol! he commands as gravity forces him to plant all four hooves on the earth again. The muscles in his hindquarters bunch as Gabbar prepares to launch himself at the intruder again.
