a promise is a cloud

A'idah

Ears flicker atop her crown, she can not help but feel her eyes drawn to the handsome arabian's dished face. She forgets what it is to look upon a purebred arabian's face. They are a remarkable breed, she lets her eyes linger for too long. She clears her throat, clearly embarrassed at the time that she had spent staring at the bay before her. Yet, she can not help but feel her thoughts drifting back to her homeland, to him. She inhales sharply, she misses him each day the sun rises above the horizon. They had plans of leaving their homeland, to venture across the sands in search of something more. They were to leave shortly after the sun had fallen beneath the horizon, it burned with fiery reds. A warning of what was to come.

The war cry had echoed across the sands, shortly after the darkest hour. That was when they arrived, a raiding clan of Tekes. She inhales sharply as the scent of blood drifts into her memory. She shakes out her blonde tresses, chasing away the memories. Then Gabbar speaks he promises a favor. She nods, she knows deep down that her own transgressions will have her calling upon him for his assistance. She offers a friendly smile in return. As he continues, she listens carefully to his words. He feels obligated to apologize for keeping her here, but he does not know that she did not feel in such a way. "Gabbar, I am not angry with you. You have released me from Olaf, he had forced me to remain here in the Dunes." She snorts, and her ears momentarily pin into her mess of mane. She had bid her time, knowing that Olaf's reign over the Dunes would be short.

As Gabbar questions further about El Aran, A'idah begins to fidget. She knows that El Aran's hate for purebreds would lead her to hunt A'idah down. She had after all had been the one to enlighten her son of the atrocities of the Tekes. Orhan had even went as far as banishing her from the Desert, because of what she had told him. She swallows then focuses on Gabbar. "El Aran, is the mare. She was living in the Desert, the other territory on Salem, until her son forced her out. She threatened my life if I did not leave the territory, so that, is how I ended up here. She threatened to soak the sands with my blood." She does let the fear show outwardly, even though it ate her up inside. A'idah knows about running for her very life, how do you think she ended up here?
