Spring had come to the forest, cementing the herd's new beginnings with the arrival of this year's foals. With so many foals running around and the herd not fully settled yet, Olaf had been on high alert. Luthien was much different than Salem had been and required more patrolling. The dunes had been somewhat barren and he could see enemies and predators coming from miles away. In the forest, the many dangers could lurk in the shadows, behind trees and undergrowth. Despite that drawback, however, Luthien was vastly superior for a comfortable life.

Olaf stood to the edge of the herd, his caramel eyes watching over each of the mares and their foals. Spring had been good to the forest herd and all the foals appeared to be doing well. As the smoky stallion's ears swivelled, listening for any threats to the peace that surrounded the herd, a call echoed from beyond the shadows. While there was no hint of a challenge in the tone of the call, Olaf was still quick to respond.

Moving swiftly he soon found loudly marked stallion just beyond the river that separated the forest from the prairie. Olaf tucked his head to his chest and arched his neck to display his dominance but he did not display outright aggression. The spotted stallion had announced himself after all (unlike the buckskin stallion in the dunes he had found conversing with one of his mares) and he had caught the male’s scent before. He could only assume that this was his neighbour from the Prairie, though he was prepared to act accordingly whoever the stranger was.

As he drew up to the other male her extended his muzzle, "Hail Stranger, I am Olaf Wolfheart. What is your business in the forest?"
