Huntington tracks? IP: 173.76.138.35 Posted on March 21, 2015 at 09:06:33 PM by Aus
I check this board occasionally and having read of frequent sightings in western Mass, I mentioned it to a friend who lives on Route 66 in Huntington. He called me this afternoon (Saturday, March 21) around 1:30PM very excited because he'd just found large *unusual* tracks in the snow around his car and across his land. While talking to me, he was leafing through his game tracks book and comparing what was in the snow to those in the book. According to him the tracks he was looking at in the snow were larger than those shown for bobcat, different than those of lynx, certainly not bear and identical to those shown for ML.
Keeping in mind that he was talking to me at 1:30PM when it was warming up after snowing earlier in the morning so it's possible that the tracks had melted to some degree making them appear larger. He said that the tracks were 2 1/2 - 3 feet apart and there was no evidence of tail or belly drag.
Unfortunately he has a flip cell phone that takes lousy pictures and has no other camera. Living a rather solitary lifestyle up in the woods, he has no internet connection nor does he even own a computer.
I might just have to break down and buy a game camera for him to hang up and then I'll retrieve any pictures it takes.
