ChiRunning & ChiWalking workshop

For the third year a ChiRunning and a ChiWalking weekend will take place at the Aventuriers de Charlo ski club from May 15th to 17th. As usual, two instructors will make the trip from Montreal to offer three workshops and one demo: John Kent and Hyongok Cho. Here is the weekend schedule:


Friday May 15th 6h00 pm to 7h00 pm (Intersports in Campbellton N.B., 100 Roseberry St.)

-ChiRunning and ChiWalking demonstration (free)


Saturday May 16th (Aventuriers de Charlo ski club, 81 Aventuriers Rd, Charlo N.B.)

-ChiRunning Level 1 9h00 am to 1h00 pm for beginners (125$)

- ChiWalking 2h00 pm to 4h30 pm open to all (70$)


Sunday May 17th 9h00 am to 1h00 pm (Aventuriers de Charlo ski club, Charlo N.B. - to confirm)

- ChiRunning Level 2 for those familiar with the technique (125$)

ChiRunning and ChiWalking are two techniques that apply Tai Chi principles to running and walking. Through these techniques we learn to move from our center with our harms and legs simply following while relaxing. In this way, the core muscles of the body do most of the work. To move forward, we let ourselves fall forward. Gravity becomes the propulsive force of the movement instead of using our legs and feet to push us off the ground. The landing happens on the middle of the foot instead of on the heel, thus reducing greatly the injury risks often related to running. Finally ChiRunning and ChiWalking emphasize mind and body relaxation.
