Though Orhan�s expression was not unkind, he did not return the stranger�s smile. A crease formed between his eyes at the other�s flippant remark, and he lifted his head, tilting it slightly in bewilderment.

�Is it?� he replied, flagging his tail as a dry breeze caught it and threw its tips into the air. He took a moment to appreciate the sensation of wind on his skin, for though it was not a cool breeze, it lessened some of the oppressive discomfort of sweat on his skin, and stirred his tired mind a little more into wakefulness. His dark eyes roamed the red hide of the young stallion before him. He did not appear to be malnourished or wounded, which suggested that this stranger had not been here long � not long enough to be truly lost, in any case.

�The only reason anyone passes through here is because they are running from something, or searching for something. Are you running or searching, friend?� As the wind changed direction, the stranger�s scent assaulted Orhan�s nostrils. He smelled strongly of salt from the ocean, but beneath it there was the tang of his origins, a tang that Orhan did not recognise. The buckskin stallion�s eyes narrowed slightly as he attempted to work it out.
