GUIDELINES

- the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
- anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
- adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
- the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
- the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors

Flat on her side, Oswin was lying. Everyone in the Prairie could breathe while the territory’s newest menace seemed to rest, bathing them in peace and serenity they probably hadn’t known since her birth. Oswin was excitable; Oswin was loud; Oswin didn’t care who you were, she wanted to try and play with you. Friction may have occurred if she pushed one of the herd mares a little too far, for Oswin’s mother was quite protective of her and would have no hesitation charging forward if any made a move for the little gold and white filly.

Yet, even while they had a break, there was bound to be a worried eye or two flicking to the filly’s body, wondering just when it would all start again. It was never a schedule with Oswin. Nothing in particular ignited her excitement, it just seemed that her mind went a million miles a minute and at any random moment she could suddenly take off for something or try and goad her siblings into a play fight or race.

At the moment, her eyes were closed, the sun was soaking into her coat, and she was breathing at a soft, methodical pace. In, out… in, out… her little belly rose and fell, her tail flicked at the flies crawling around and nibbling at her hindquarters. For as much energy as she burned, she needed naps as well!

Time crawled by, thin white clouds drifted listlessly over the blue spring sky, and peacefulness settled like a warm blanket over the territory…

Oswin sneezed. Her head lifted, dazed, and she gave it a little shake, blinking furiously over pretty blue eyes as she adjusted to the light and came away from her dream. A mighty yawn followed, her toothless mouth stretched wide, and when she was done she slowly rolled her weight and pulled herself to all four hooves. A bit of a shake, a bit of a stretch, and she was good to go. Her gaze swept over the various horses that were her family, to her mother grazing just a small distance away, and then back again.

A wide grin slipped over her mouth. “Target acquired.” She whispered to herself and with a loud, boisterous whinny, she kicked up her heels and hopped, bucking and twisting about before she started right for… just who was Oswin’s victim of choice? Chumani, her older sister. “I’m gonna getcha!!” She cried out, running right for her, eyes bright and wild.
