United States proposed rule to delist the eastern puma from the Federal Endangered Species Act IP: 50.204.144.106 Posted on June 16, 2015 at 07:14:18 PM by weather01089
Well what they are not telling you is that the latest research, including extracting DNA from ancient native American sites, indicates there never WAS an "eastern puma" subspecies. That subspecies was assigned that title in the 1800s, before they could accurately identify one to begin with. The DNA being found at ancient sites shows the same traits found in the western populations. The latest Canadian DNA also shows the same traits, as did the cat hit my the car on the highway in Connecticut. We might have known about the Rhode Island cat's DNA if the RI DEM had not "lost" the scat collected at the site. Replies: There have been no replies.
