Just strip off half the line and stretch it out in the yard. Then pinch the line as you're reeling in and see if that helps. The bearing on the bail will twist the line over time and some models are worse than others. For trolling, casting reels are superior.

Secret to spooling spinning reels and mono:

Thread it onto the reel but use the lower half eyes.Lay the spool on the ground. Start winding for a bit and pinch the line. After a dozen or so revolutions, release the bail. If the line flops off, turn that spool over 180° and try again. Once you figure out which side of the spool to lay on the ground, then load the rest of it.When you get to the end, make sure you don't put too much on.Release the bail and see if the line flops off.

If it still doesn't want to lay on the spool correct, cut off the swivel/hook and manually pull out 50+ yds or more and let it lay.If you got a lot of wind, let the wind straighten it. Then pinch the line and reel it in. Doesn't take long for a properly lined spinning reel to re-twist the line.

Time: Hard telling. The dinks will thin out and the bigger eyes get active. After that, they all disappear. I've seen the eyes disappear out of the main lake when water temp was in the low 80's mid july. 2012,we were pulling 2 man limits at the end of july when the water temp reached 92°. 2003,season ended after the big flood a week or so after the 4th of july.

When I start snagging carp in the main lake, then the eyes are pretty much done for the summer.

As of this morning, water temp is 75.5°
