Wendy’s defined face was turned toward the warlord as he spoke. This was something Wendy was good at, listening and observing. His marred body had tested time and won conquests and his hollow eyes had seen things he wished he hadn’t. Wendy’s eyes were still vibrant and new, filled to the brim with child-like wonder. She watches his face and his dark eyes as he speaks to her about their similarity. She does not try to pry open the door because he does not knock on hers. She watches the beach a while longer, wondering silently what the duo was waiting for. Perhaps the titan didn’t want to admit he was mortal and tired as well, or perhaps there was someone here?
She continues to stand next to the rigid stallion, looking on into the swirled sky, the hues mixing together and becoming radiant and warming her inwardly. For the moment the chill is gone as the ocean breeze washes over them. She breathes deeply, his musky scent and the ocean mingling, and becoming one. She bumps his shoulder with her muzzle. ”Wandering or lost?” Wendy wasn’t sure she believed the idea this stoic creature was all that lost. He seemed sure of himself and aware of his surroundings, was it all an act? The two-toned mare was young and naïve, but curious, perhaps too much.
With her question lingering in the breeze she sighs softly and turns around, away from the unforgettable sunset, her first sunset in this tight knit grouping of islands. It was with an equally unforgettable character. She would not mind a rest and a nibble here and there on the foliage that grew underfoot, it wasn’t poor advice the stallion gave her. She turns her sleek neck, an afterthought clinging to her lips. ”I hope you’re taking me somewhere unforgettable.”
