till human voices wake us and we drown (bjorn/olaf)

“Yes, I do.” She said with a resolute nod. Part of her actually kind of doubted it, but most of her was sure that Dogun would return eventually. He had to, right? His whole family was here, and there was nothing for him outside of the Islands, aside from loneliness. Surely he would come back eventually, to those that loved him and wanted to be with him. She sighed gently, gritting her teeth and giving a silent thanks for the change of subject.

“Perhaps. I am not sure. Do you think they will? You are right, Olaf is very strong, but if this stallion is younger, he will have an advantage.” She explained to him, considering his proposal. She could not do much in the way of fighting - even if she could, Olaf probably would not allow her - if he was even there to stop her. He had always kept his mares in check and was stricter than Dogun had been. Even if they were able to drive this intruder out, what would they do? Bjorn was far too young to own a territory by himself, he would need the guidance of an older male, and although she had ruled by Dogun’s side for many seasons, it was likely not enough to help Bjorn.

Finally, she took a deep breath and nodded. “Yes, that will be fine. I will go with you, and we will return to the Forest and search for Olaf and perhaps we will come across this stranger you speak of.” She nudged him and set off, knowing he would follow close behind. She had a feeling now that they’d been reunited, he would not be leaving her side for quite awhile. Or, at least, he would always be keeping tabs on her. She found herself grateful for that, it was nice to know someone cared.

The trip to the Forest didn’t take long, with Freya leading the way. She pulled herself onto the shore and shook the water from her pelt, following the first scent she found. Olaf’s scent was fresh, much to her surprise, and the scent of a second, unfamiliar stallion lingered in the grass and amongst the trees. She tracked Olaf’s scent with precision, and it led the pair to a small copse of trees. Unfortunately, Olaf was nowhere to be seen, but she knew he would likely make an appearance eventually. Turning to Bjorn, Freya eyed him. “It seems the stranger has gone. If Olaf is still here - which I presume he is - would you like to stay?”
