Original Poem

Title: Pictures of Rings

I wonder when I see them
If they know that it's not true
Their smiling faces telling nothing but lies
Pictures of rings and promises of forever
Even the sweetest of flowers always dies

Warm lips you kiss now may someday turn cold
Although it seems unfathomable to think
Time has the power to heal all your strife
But it also steals love in a wink

Be grateful they say, your wounded heart is a gift
Each scar a blessing obtained in a brawl
For it's better, my friend, to have loved and have lost
Than to never have loved at all
