CHARITABLE ADVERTISING on Web Site There are many worthwhile charitable causes in existence, but we can only accept sponsorship or fundraising efforts on Fusilier Association websites, that specifically support approved Fusilier charities. This essentially means that it is acceptable to use these pages to seek sponsorship for The Fusiliers Aid Society (which includes Fallen Fusiliers), and The Fusilier Memorial fund only. We now have our own dedicated justgiving site (http://www.justgiving.com/fusiliersaidsociety), which you can use to help raise money for your cause. If you let RHQ (Asst Regt Sec) know the specific cause you are raising money for, it will be directed to the correct fund. Messages soliciting sponsorship for causes or charities other than the Fusilier ones mentioned above should not be placed on the message board and may be removed by the Webmaster.
Messages posted in the last 24 hrs. are in White.

Whilst I fully understand their reasoning, whoever at the RHQ Tower drafted and issued this little offensive edict needs taking to one side and introducing to the realities of the real world. Unless the organisations under consideration are prescribed in law as being illegal, under what authority does the RHQ Tower feel it has permission to state “ retired Fusiliers are not to associate with extremist groups ”. Surely it would have been more appropriate to say ‘ retired Fusiliers are strongly advised to use common sense and not associate themselves or the regiment with extremist groups in a manner that would impinge on the good name of the regiment.….’ Again, an implied threat is made to Association members by use of the wording “ Association with extremist groups will not be tolerated “……er…… by whom, and what would the sanctions be if transgressed? Exactly who are these thought police? Who decides which groups / organisations are extreme and by whose standards are they to be deemed as such? The powers that be at the Tower need to get real! I for one retired from the regular Army over 40 years ago and thereafter served with distinction as a Police Officer for 30 years with 15 years service in Special Branch. I will associate with exactly whom I choose when and where I want and in a manner I consider to be appropriate. I do not require a mother hen watching over me!
