Lailah did not blame the owl for the way she was reacting, did not blame her one bit for her attack. It was instinct for a mother to react this way if they believed their child to be in any form of danger; she knew her mother Everlyse would react far worse than the owl if she ever found one of her pups in danger, for Everlyse was not a wolf to be trifled with. The owl swoops over the small girl, trying to dig her talons in and get the night angel to run far away from the location of the chick. Unfortunately, Lailah was not one who handled stressful situations well at all, anxiety taking over and causing her to freeze up, mind like a broken record stuck at the same part. Her little white body would not move, blue and green eyes wide with fear. Her parents were going to kill her if the owl didn't.
She didn't even hear the thunder of the other's paws until he stood over her, sharp bark and a flash of teeth pushing the owl away from her attack. It did not detour her though, now she was even more infuriated, the presence of two threats setting her off further. Lailah could only lay there and watch as the two sized each other up, the male who had become her shield trying to make himself larger so that he was larger than the owl. Then the owl dive bombed once more, the knives on her feet ready to slice into the boy, yet he would not give her the chance. The male snatched on of her toes within his jaws, facing the wrath of her wings as the mother owl tried to pull away and cut her loses. When he released, the owl retreated back to the chick, leaving the two for however long they had to escape before she decided to make sure they got the message.
There is silence, the feeling of unease and panic hanging in the air. The male continued to stand over her until the threat was far enough gone that he could move to her side. His touch is gentle as nudges the shocked girl, trying to wake her from the shock that left her in her own world. His touch jolted her back to the real world as he licked the cut on her forehead and laid beside her. Shyness overwhelmed her as he ears laced back quickly against her skull, tail tucking between her legs and eyes averting to the ground. ”Hey, are you ok? Can you move? I have a den nearby we can go to. I don’t want to be here if something worse than a pissed owl comes.” he asks, and she knows he's right, they need to get away. She nods, answering all of his questions at once as she quickly stands, shying away from his touch in silence.
She waited for him to rise up to and lead her as she quietly followed behind, wanting to thank her savior but not knowing what to do. She was too scared to go home but she also didn't want to intrude on this boy's den. "Thank you," she says, her voice no louder than a whisper and as sweet as honey. Her mother had said that she had the sweetest voice in the world, that any who listened to her couldn't help but fall for her, all she had to do was talk more.
