- adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
- the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
- the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors

Oswin flicked her ears, eyes bright with excitement as she watched her sister when she could. The only problem was that, when Chumani began to move, Oswin found her visual of her spotted sister disrupted by bodies of the herd. When she lost sight of her completely due to Dock’s interference, Oswin whined, “Mom, you’re in the way!” To which Dock gently rolled her eyes and flicked her tail, not appeasing her daughter by moving and instead staying where she grazed. Oswin sighed in frustration and started to move around Dock right when she heard both a giggle and then a cry that made her eyes widen. “I see you sister!”

She glanced over her shoulder to see Chumani loping toward her and the herd, easily making her way around them and toward Oswin. “Ah!” Squealed Oswin, though it was all in dramatic play, little legs picking up under her as she started off at an awkward, stumbling trot. “Yeah right!” She called back with a laugh, though Chumani was merely inches from managing to nip at her white-splashed gold hindquarters. Seeing this, Oswin squealed again in protest and tried to pick up her pace, ears turned back against the wind momentum, air whistling by her as she ran.

The only problem with being a babe, of course, was that though she had plenty of energy it always seemed to come in short bursts. She’d made a wide half-circle around the herd, trying to turn quick and lose her sister before the energy ran dry and she stumbled to a stop, little sides heaving with breaths taken and bright eyes locking onto Chumani. “You win this time!” She declared and then narrowed her eyes, “just wait until I’m older!”

But, thinking of being older, Oswin remembered that Firethorn and Foxglove were meant to go and live at somewhere called the Inlet and it made her wonder… Oswin blinked and frowned. “Chumani…” her voice was somewhat softer as she approached her sister, tilting her head and looking up at her, “are you… are you gonna leave too? Like Firethorn and Foxglove are?”
