They ran side by side, Taika listening intently to Skoll’s tales about the creatures of the water. There had been so many things described to her in her life. The existence of creatures in the seas, gods in the skies, and spirits in the trees and water. Very few of the ‘adults’ had told her these creatures were merely fantasy while the rest had encouraged her mind to grow and believe in these things. Meeting Skoll, running on adventures with Pan, she was beginning to be convinced these creatures did share the earth with them. After all, so many believed they did, how could they all be wrong?
At the mouth of the mountain trail she eyed Skoll curiously, doubt cocking her ears to the side. Colt or not, she was pretty sure Ysabella would claim him for a trinket. She had never known the pirate queen to give up on a prize. He was interesting, strong, and had faced the ocean waters. Skoll was definitely a prize to be had. “I never really know! Ysabella always just talked about Rodrigo like he was her prize, and he had to follow her around. A couple other stallions come and go. But I don’t know what they do with them.” Her curiosity about the relationships between mares and stallions did not extend to the point where she would ask what stallions were kept for. It had always been curious about the pirate mare’s comments towards her mother and Rodrigo though. Often commenting about how the stallion was not her sire. Skoll’s words brought her back out of thinking about what they would do with him once they captured him. She blinked. His father?
“You have a mom and a father?” She asked, thoroughly confused. A snort came from the little filly as she tried to figure out why the Lagoon would have tried to capture her and keep her. “Maybe because I am a Moonchild?” Her short tail moved in what would one day be a flaming whip, trying to avoid the thoughts of parentage and the difference between boys and girls. “Anyway! Captured or not, want to try to get to the top? Maybe we can talk to the star faeries!”
