The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

More wolves seemed to materialize out of the brush. Grey Wind greeted her with casual niceties and she nodded in return. She didn’t want to distract him as Marx called his attention to the spar. She watched with interest as Marx laid out the rules but she was quickly pulled away by the arrival of Halina. The she-wolf had been at the border when she was accepted. “Are you ready to see your first fight, Nova? This should be quite the show.” Halina winked at Nova before turning her attention to the adults who were present. “Marx, you called? And Grey Wind, Enigma, it is good to see you both. Are we practicing today? Enigma, you and I can have a go at it and show the boys how it is really done…” Her words were a challenge to the brutes but they paid no mind as they steadied themselves for the spar.

Grey Wind began his charge as suddenly as the rain that pelted Abendrot sporadically. Nova watched in interest as Marx took his full body hit and went down into the soggy ground. But Marx wouldn’t let him get away that easily. His canines reached out for Grey Wind’s foreleg, hoping to land a clean bite. Nova pricked her ears and listened for sounds of struggle, but she only received the breathing of her neighboring companions Enigma and Halina. Marx had finally gotten back onto his paws and had begun to circle Grey Wind, like a piece of prey. “You can do better than that.” He snarky response made Nova smirk. She enjoyed Marx’s sense of encouragement. It fit well with her abilities and learning style. She didn’t need soft coddling like most pups, but rather she enjoyed the harsh prodding that Marx was giving Grey Wind as they sparred.

The rain pelted into the clearing making everything a hazy blur of grey. Marx’s onyx and silver pelt blended with Grey Winds silvery pelt making them a mass of fur, claws and snarling as the spar drew on. Nova hoped she would get to see Enigma and Halina spar with each other or at least with one of the brutes who were currently dueling in the muddy arena.
