15.3hh - Gypsy Vanner - Lead of the Inlet


Fighting one stallion was one thing. When suddenly it was three angry horses rushing at him and screaming the moose changed from offensively challenging Pagan to fighting for his defence. Horse hind hooves flew at his shoulders and he dropped his head to defending. Antlers swung blindly back and forth, easily able to cut into the leg of a poorly aimed kick. Slowly the big beast started to back away from the equines, realizing property rights were not worth the fight.

The other horses’ whinnies and screams filled the air. With their sound in the air Pagan was fueled by their presence. Whether they jumped into the fray or not he could feel them around him. It was enough make the adrenaline course more potently through his body. Antlers ripped his white hindquarter as the moose swung just as he kicked. The stallion screamed again, whether in rage or pain it made no difference. Blind to the wound he spun to face the moose and throw out his forehooves. With his eyes on the beast he was more able to see where the creature’s defenses would be so the stallion would be more able to aim his offense. Feathered hooves and mane whipped as he continued to press forward to drive the stupid creature away. Far too long had it been lingering close to his home, threatening his peace. Now there were others in this land to live and fight for the lead stallion was not going to let them down, or be harassed by the stupid thing that had been encroaching.

With every painful step forward he took he lashed out with his heavy hooves. His head stayed up and stayed high, out of the reach of the swaying antlers. Threatening snorts and brays came from his throat with every attack he unleashed, trying to get the moose to finally turn away and retreat.
