Orhan’s confusion did not register in Taika’s consciousness. As soon as it had become clear the stallion was not going to attack, or harm, her the filly did not really seem to mind what he thought or would do. She knew she meant no harm to him or his family so his confusion would inevitably clear itself up. There were other things around them far more interesting around them that she felt the need to explore instead of try to figure out why a strange stallion was surprised by a strange filly in his home. So instead of study the desert horse’s face, she continued to poke around the brush, occasionally shaking the soaking rain off of her body.

At her nickname, Taika looked back up at him and smiled at his questions. “I am exploring! I always knew there were other islands, and I wanted to see them! “ She danced around him, occasionally stopping to drop her nose to the muck at her feet when there was a particularly loud squelch. Her lips pursed, her true youth shined over her face for a moment while she thought about his next question. “Well… my mother might not know that I am here, but she knows I am not there.” Taika held her head high, the rain plastering her sun soaked locks in her eyes. “She gave me permission to swim to other islands! This one happened to be on my way!”

Curiosity grew in the filly when he spoke, though she frowned at the questioning tones in his voice at the word of magic. Was there none here? It was not possible. “Yes!” She breathed excitedly, trying to pull the older stallion into belief with her. “Magic! Is there none here, in your home?” Dark eyes looked at the land surrounding them. She could see it, maybe it was so common place that he could not? “Most of your desert is…dead?” The girl had no other word to describe the sandy terrain she had traversed. “But here there is life, and plants!” Once more she poked at the new vegetation she had never seen before. “Plants that I have never seen on the mountain!” She looked at him with upmost seriousness. “Does the magic come from this place, or does it gather here from the rest of your desert?”
