One of the Earth

15.3hh - Gypsy Vanner - Lead of the Inlet

Buckskin yellow hooves stepped through the drying autumn foliage as he continued his trek. While he patrolled he gave the rest of the herd a wide berth. Occasionally his shyness still crept in and drove him to the edges of his land for more than just duty. But at time he still wanted to be around him, to feel their bodies against his and know they were there, even if they were the ‘mares’ of his second. They were apart of him and his home. He walked the trail back to the sheltered fields the herd tended to graze, passing by the small herd of caribou that shared the territory. His white head lifted when one of the mares of the Inlet approached him as he approached her. A smile drew across his lips and he nodded his head to the lady.

“Hello, Abigail. No real deep thought.” Though there were still times of loneliness, just like his first winter here alone, the memory darkened his eyes for a moment, before the brightened again, remembering who he was talking to. “Just thinking of the coming winter. I am happy you are here, the winters can be long and cold.” His smile grew as he studied her for a moment. “But I’m sure chasing after your boys will keep you warm when the snow falls.” Silence fell for a moment, and a different kind of loneliness brushed against his heart. Though he considered Braylen’s family part of his own, he still felt the deep desire to hold someone dear as well as near. “Where did Braylen bring you here from? I have gathered you have been in his heart, and him in your’s, for a while.” It was a subtle and harmless kind of jealousy by vanner felt towards his friend. He could not begrudge him though.
