GUIDELINES

- the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
- anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
- adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
- the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
- the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors

Oswin didn’t get the reaction she was expecting, but the filly’s excitement only helped to keep the pace of euphemism going. As much as she enjoyed messing with her siblings (particularly Calder), she liked a good adventure just as much. As her new friend asked why Oswin had never investigated the forest, she didn’t want to sound lame and say it was because her mother told her not to, so she opted for a look that acted as though she’d never before considered the possibility. She was certain the filly would laugh at her if she told her that her mother would have come charging if she ever saw Oswin headed that way. At least, for now, she seemed busy with Calder and the rest of the herd too. They hadn’t once looked Oswin’s way! It was finally her time for grand adventure!

“Alright, let’s go.” She said after chancing one quick look to the herd to make sure they weren’t being watched. A wild grin took hold of her mouth and she danced forward on slender legs, stretching her neck out and bumping her muzzle against the girl’s wither before taking off in a trot. When there was enough distance between them she kicked out her hooves; it felt good to romp about in the tall grasses. Energy was coursing through her, a product of her excitement.

It took no time at all for the girls to reach the edge of the wide, shallow river which separated the Prairie from the line of trees at the other side. Oswin peered with blue eyes into the shadowed forest and grinned at her companion. “What’s your name, anyways?” She asked, “if the evil ghosts grab you, I gotta know your name for the eulogy.”
