do not blame a faded rose

VODNIK

SPACIOUS ARE THE GOBLIN'S COURTS
OF WEALTH HE HAS TO FILL;

Vodnik isn't sure what he expected. Had he been in this other stallion's place he would not have yielded to such posturing either, but for a moment he is overwhelmed with an arrogant disbelief that anyone would dare defy him. He gives a mighty shake of his head, and for a moment his rage is obscured by a cloud of black mane.

Without another moment's hesitation, he lashes out, first with gnashing teeth, and then with a heavy strike. He throws his weight into his attack, so even if he misses his mark, he may at least knock the rival stallion off balance. The muscles in vodnick's haunch ripple under a glossy coat, caught in rare flashes of waning light through canopy above. He points his toes for purchase and broad hooves leave deep gouges in the soft, gravel earth.

The bay stallion is not new to battling. He is, in fact, very well practiced, thus he is well aware of his own strengths and weaknesses. He is not fast, and he is not agile, but he is heavy and he is strong. Both of which can easily be used to his advantage. He has a well-established style, one that has proven effective in the past. Watching a fight with Vodnik is like having tickets to the demolition derby. He is bold; he is forceful, and he has been know to literally flatten his competition. He had gained some measure of respect among his bachelor brethren, but it's clear he'll have to re-establish his reputation anew on these islands.
