Basilio was by himself today; Rufina had taken off on another hunt for Braylen, this time vowing to chew an ear off? Basil would hate to be his dad right now who was being smart and hiding. The colt liked this newfound freedom he was given, venturing out of their little hideout in the trees and toward where he knew he saw others the other day. His legs carried him on, plowing through the snow as his ears caught wind of cheery voices nearby.

Rounding the last bend of trees he stops at the sight of the three bodies slipping and sliding across the ice in play, head tilting as he looked on. Mama had told him the ice wasn't to play on and he could hurt himself, yet here were others doing what he so desperately wanted to do. The curiosity and the urge were too great for the boy to ignore and after a look behind him to make sure Rufina wasn't looking he was prancing over to the where he could tell the ice started. He lifts a leg and gently places it down onto the ice, ears pushing forward as he dips his head to make sure it wouldn't crack before slowly letting the rest of his body follow. This wasn't so bad, he does a happy cheer in his head. Basil focuses on his next step so he doesn't slip and then another until he's toward the middle yet still away from the others. Only when he gets to where he was wanting to go does he suddenly try to turn, causing his focus to waver and his legs to go scrambling for some sort of footing, but the ice was slick and the boy goes skidding across the ice to only fall into a heap of snow which decides to collapse as well on top of the poor colt; at least he hadn't fallen onto the ice itself.

Basil pokes his head out of the coldness, red ears back and his once happy face turned into a sour expression; he should have listened to mama.
