Hi Peter;

Thanks for posting that interesting background information on Emerald Shiners. I have noticed these large schools of this species along the shores and in mouths of streams on Lake Simcoe for many years late in the season. They seem to be more common in recent years. I had looked up information on them several years ago in Freshwater Fishes of Canada by Scott and Crossman but had forgot that information you mentioned. It will be of interest for all of us now to watch from year to year how these large schools of shiners affect the fish-eating bird populations on Lake Simcoe in coming years.
