GUIDELINES - the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands - anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents - adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm - the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head - the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors

She couldn't remember the last time she had been home. But as the young mare walked through the tall, bending reeds of the vast Prairie, a warm calm overcame her. A gentle smile remained plastered across her soft, velvet-like lips. She was happy to be here again. Nova didn't announce her arrival. Instead, she meandered around the edges of the territory on Luthien for a while, gauging what the herd was like now, and hoping to spy her father from afar before making her entrance. But things were quiet here, as they always were. Her father must be away, she assumed, for she didn't spy his spotted frame anywhere. She didn't see her mother's well known golden frame. And thus, she made the decision to be seen.

Nova briefly wondered if her brothers and sisters would still be here. She had been among the middle of the pack in terms of age, but was thankful for the plentiful siblings she had while growing up here. But she'd been out of touch for so long. When her mother plucked her from the herd in the middle of the night, and forced her to swim distances she feared would eventually kill her, she didn't know she wouldn't see the herd again for so long. It had taken more than a year for her to return. She'd been among the islands for several months, but was too busy creating her own life to stumble back home.

Night after night, while on the lamb with Evaline, Nova dreamed of returning to the Prairie and seeing her father. It was the only thing that got her through her mother's coldness and relentless search for a brother she'd never met. The coo became so ridiculous, and her mother so intense about it, that Nova worried the palomino mare had finally lost it. That she was delusional, searching for something that never existed. It put the filly in an awkward, grief-stricken state. Did her mother make up having another child? Was she not good enough to fill her heart? Nova never dare ask her mother about it out loud, for fear of irrational punishment. Her mother was on edge, always. She was miserable and in her own grief, was attacking the only being out there that had unwillingly left to stand at her side.

She always assumed Valentine would welcome her home with warmth and hearth. But the closer she got to Luthien, the more she doubted it. And now she lived in the Bay with Nephilim, a stallion she knew her father had fought with previously. Had the herd moved on? Would her father forgive her? She guessed she was about to find out.
