CHARITABLE ADVERTISING on Web Site There are many worthwhile charitable causes in existence, but we can only accept sponsorship or fundraising efforts on Fusilier Association websites, that specifically support approved Fusilier charities. This essentially means that it is acceptable to use these pages to seek sponsorship for The Fusiliers Aid Society (which includes Fallen Fusiliers), and The Fusilier Memorial fund only. We now have our own dedicated justgiving site (http://www.justgiving.com/fusiliersaidsociety), which you can use to help raise money for your cause. If you let RHQ (Asst Regt Sec) know the specific cause you are raising money for, it will be directed to the correct fund. Messages soliciting sponsorship for causes or charities other than the Fusilier ones mentioned above should not be placed on the message board and may be removed by the Webmaster.
Messages posted in the last 24 hrs. are in White.

THE ROYAL FUSILIERS MEMORIAL CHAPEL COMMITTEE

Invites You

to attend the Inaugural Memorial Lecture

on Wednesday 16th March 2016 – 6.0pm for 6.30pm

in the Church of St. Sepulchre-without-Newgate, London EC1

(at the junction of Holborn Viaduct and Giltspur Street)

when

Mr. Christopher Donnelly CMG TD

will speak on

“The nature of conflict in the 21st century”

As a graduate of Manchester University and Territorial Army officer in the Intelligence Corps, Chris Donnelly helped to establish, and later headed, the Soviet Studies Centre at the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. Between 1989 and 2003, as a Special Adviser to four NATO Secretaries General, he was closely involved in dealing with the disintegration of the Soviet Union and the reform of newly-emerging democracies in Central and Eastern Europe. He then set up and ran the UK Defence Academy’s Advanced Research and Assessment Group. He has been a prolific writer on defence issues and has served as a Specialist Adviser to the Public Administration Select Committee, and to the Defence Committee, of the House of Commons. He sits on the official team scrutinizing the reform of the country’s Reserve Forces.

In 2010 he became co-Director of The Institute for Statecraft (2 Temple Place, London WC2R 3BD www.statecraft.org.uk) dealing with new security threats and responses – specifically, new forms of conflict and warfare, and how to transform institutions so that they are fit for today’s rapidly changing security environment.

This lecture is free of charge, but there will be a retiring collection for the chapel. Allowing time for questions, the lecture is likely to end at about 7.30pm, but further discussion may take place informally over a glass of wine afterwards. Those wishing to attend are asked to send their names by e-mail to mjd451@gmail.com by Wednesday 9th March. Bids will be confirmed, but no hard-copy tickets will be issued.
