What are we?We are a play-by-post roleplaying game focused on human-to-animal shapeshifters and their familiars. Created in the vein of Tamora Pierce's Tortall, the world of Knell - where Revelations is set - is a bustling medieval land filled to the brim with opportunities of all shapes and sizes!
What do we offer?* A warm and inviting community, with admin eager to learn and grow alongside our players. We welcome players of all shapes and sizes, including those who are new to the RPG community and those who don't always have a lot of time for posts.
* An abundance of opportunities for interactive
and individual threads. While posting with your fellow players is encouraged (of course!), we've also worked to ensure that you'll have a variety of opportunities for individual character development and growth.
* We help you celebrate your achievements with special Ribbons, which can be spent on rare and unique items! We currently offer over 35 Ribbons that can be earned in a variety of ways. Characters also earn ducats, our in-game currency, in a variety of ways, the easiest being completing regular posts; they can then spend those ducats on a ton of great items and opportunities!
* There are tons of opportunities to "build" your character from the very beginning, and a lot of ways to grow them from there. Characters can be joined (or adopted) as either Throwbacks (those unable to shift) or Shapeshifters; Magic Users or Non-Magic Users; Natives or Outsiders (characters originating from other times/places); and Nobles or Commoners. Characters can pursue training in a variety of trades - we have 10 career categories, most of which include 6+ individual trades - and will earn additional money, opportunities, and more for doing job-related tasks. Characters interested in becoming magical powerhouses can work to become Warlocks, those who master the "taboo" element of Spirit in exchange for their sanity, while those with less extreme desires can complete one of the other four elemental trees instead; we currently offer
455 magical powers to choose from! Non-Magic Users can select from
34 abilities, which alter their bodies in amazing ways. Looking for fame and fortune? Try Exploring the land, or complete Bounties & Encounters to gain Renown! Characters can also earn their own lands and titles, so even commonborn folk can find themselves in leadership positions if they're willing to work for them.
* We currently have 64 adoptable NPCs in a variety of positions; they can be adopted permanently or for the short-term, depending on your preference!
* Familiars based on natural Earth creatures "cost" only a post (rarer ones can be bought using Ribbons or ducats!). Once bonded, your familiar can progress through four levels, growing in personality and power!
* Have something special you want, but we don't have listed? Post on the Inbox board to talk it over with the admin; most reasonable requests can be fulfilled at only the "cost" of a quest or two!
* Rev is set up to progress through Ages, which will introduce new features such as additional playable or NPC races, new enemies to battle, and new areas to explore, as well as magical, technological, and social advances! Age 2, which is set to begin in early 2016, will present an abundance of fun opportunities for characters - particularly those interested in leadership!
