GUIDELINES

- the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
- anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
- adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
- the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
- the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors
Live through this lie

Was I left behind?
Someone tell me, tell me I survived.

The Prairie was quiet, too quiet. The tall reeds whispered to me in the passing breeze, bringing old memories of this place to the forefront of my mind. Valentine had breathed life into this place. It was a busy hearth at the time of my adolescence. I had so many siblings to play with and their mothers to pester. Even Evaline seemed content with the way of life here at the time. But there was a void in Valentine's wake. Part of me ached to see the spotted stud again. He was always good to me, even though I was never truly his kin. He gave me a start in life that most bastards were not fortunate to afford. Wherever he was these days, I wish him well.

Perhaps that's what drove me back here. That's what made me want to stay when I found the place vacant. My ramblings with Kasabian changed me. It taught me more about the world, and maybe more about myself. But I longed for the company of my own kind -- some that were gentler than my tormented half-brother. I worry some about where he is now. Evaline is here and she's got another of one Valentine's children at her side. I see no resemblance of myself or Kasabian in this one. It's almost as if she's replaced her eldest sons with Nova and this one, Paradiso, her legitimate children. She's clearly mad at me and I can understand that. How was I supposed to know she was going to follow me like she did? And for as long? I have yet to strike out to find Nova. But perhaps I owe her an apology too.

The atmosphere within the Prairie is quiet, solemn. Evaline stays close come nightfall, more for the protection of her young son than any other reason. We don't talk much. I think she'll probably leave when that colt is old enough to strike out on her own. I know she hates being so near to me. So I focus on what I can control, and that's this place.
