During the day, sentries guard the sleeping. When the sky is dark and the moon dances with the stars, this is when the real fun begins. Munashii Gekko's forest is the only haunt where you can find your local misfits all in one place. A land of the forbidden and forgotten, a place that is riddled with dangers of a whole different kind. The wolves here have long misplaced their rightful minds, and now live like creatures damned to prowl and lurk through the night. It's easy to lose yourself here, sanity was sure to fade away and wither; there was never anything normal about this nefarious nest. The silent threats that whispered in the breeze were enough to deter even the largest of demons around. It was not strength nor wit that ensured your survival here with Eric, and challengers would be torn down with a morose lethality - there was nothing left in his cold blue eyes that promised mercy to anyone who dared to overstep their worth. So, would you give up the sun for the moon and stars? Do you have enough vigor to become a well regarded sentry? - Put on a game face to step up and pass the sepia king's test or turn and leave before he catches your scent. You never know who wants to snack on your delicious blood in this forest.

What was it about being alpha that always called to him?
He had witnessed so many packs go dead after a new alpha took over. The bi-color wolf had caused it himself, once, actually. He and Akina had been too young, new parents at the time, and the pack wilted very soon after they came into power.

But he was older now. At this point it wasn’t pure ambition and impulse. He was more clear headed than ever. He was more experienced, not just physically which he still put in rigorous training and exercises to fine tune on a daily basis. He also had a better understanding of life itself. Of course he didn’t have all the answers – no one did – but it was true that as a wolf came into adulthood they grew to have a sort of understanding of how the world worked. It was no more adolescent views of the world revolving around them, but instead, how they fit into a world that was bigger than they ever could have imagined. And along with this advanced worldview, he also had a plethora of ideas to build up a pack and keep it thriving.

That was another thing. So many alphas in Blossom Forest ran packs similarly to each other. It wasn’t even a negative thing, really, it was proven to work with a dedicated enough leader. And most of these wolves had either grown up in the area or been here long enough that of course they would pull from the influences of alphas already here. Titan would too, of course, but he also had fresh ideas that were going to make the pack so much more self-sufficient. Not in a way that it would eventually never need an alpha or anything, but in a way that no one in the pack would be stalled. Everyone had the potential to play a part in the pack, even unranked omegas.

At least that was the goal.

His paws parked his massive black and crimson figure at the border of the pack land known as Munashii Gekko. Since arriving in Blossom Forest as a youngling, Titan had lived in Saw Tooth and then, shortly after leaving that land, found a home in Aurora Borealis. Even though things fell apart, he ended up missing for a long while, and he almost lost Akina, in hindsight he actually did have fond feelings towards Aurora Borealis. Everything that went wrong there was his fault, but the other members and even the land itself had made a good impression. It always bounced back, and he liked that natural resilience. Not to mention that was the land the pups grew up in. Saw Tooth, on the other hand, left more of a bitter taste in his mouth. It was the pack where he met Akina and while that was the best thing to happen to him, it was also the only good thing that came out of Saw Tooth. His older brother had abandoned him when he left the pack. There was the non-stop drama between himself, Akina, and Hex. Even Hex’s adopted sister jumped in on that sometimes. Maybe all that drama wasn’t as bitter in hindsight though, as the large male found a small, sentimental smile crinkling his lip line. They were hard times, and he had never actually made peace with Hex after all was said and done, but they were times that led to him standing at the border of another pack. A pack that was hopefully going to be home for him and he could in turn create a thriving home for others.

This had to be it. If he didn’t make it happen here, it wasn’t going to.

Like so many before him, he tilted his head back so he was looking, from in between tree branches, into a clear night sky. Countless stars freckled the inky ocean above and he felt so small but also so validated. He breathed in deep, shut his emerald eyes, and then released a powerful song out into the evening. It wasn’t a poetic hymn; it wasn’t any more haunting than any other wolf’s melody. It was simple; it made clear his presence and his purpose. After the announcement was complete he lowered his muzzle and then sat back on his haunches. His senses were tuned in to the world around him and now he waited.
