scarlet tanager???

scarlet tanager???

We had a fleeting visit this morning (Oro Medonte)from a red bird which at a glance resembled a cardinal, but too small. Maybe a purple finch? Not the right colour of red. Looked in the book and it does look like a scarlet tanager. The earliest sighting on the board is early May. Am I dreaming? Wishful thinking?
