The forest stands tall and lush here; ancient trees reach weather-twisted arms to the sky, fighting monster-like storm clouds back with their interlacing fingers. Shadow seems to lurk everywhere you look, but it spills calmly, coolly, inspiring a sense of stealthy calm or protection rather than unease. That is, if you've forgotten what kind of creature might be stalking just out of sight...Abendrot is a land cradled by the dark woods on all sides; in the center, some of the larger trees stay behind to reveal a small plateau - a citadel where this pack can gather and defend itself from invaders. There are, of course, softer sides to the land. Clearings here and there allow the sun to throw down its rays in incongruously resplendent gold showers. Ignore the lingering scents of blood spattered here and there along the borders: those do not concern you. The river on one edge of the territory is playful enough when it hasn't been gorged by violent rain. You can choose to note the ragged claw marks raked down tree trunks and the forest floor as friendly "Home Sweet Home" signs, if you wish.

All who treasure loyalty, order, victory, and the occasional indulgence of raw visceral pleasure are welcome, once they've been approved by the ever-watchful eyes of Abendrot's Alpha. But keep one thing in mind: no matter what your motive, this is not a fool's Paradise. This is the land of soldiers, assassins, and spies. This is ABENDROT.

Make up your mind quickly and prepare to prove your worth. You wouldn't want to add to those blood spatters, would you...?

Men shouldKeep their word

Grey Wind

The brute had fallen into his new role well. It had been a few weeks since he had announced to the group in Abendrot that he would be the new alpha. He knew this pack well, knew what these wolves were like, and he knew that they would not be happy about it. Hell he wasn’t happy about it. He had been close friends with Kershov, the previous alpha that had been here before him been his closest friend, and he had enjoyed being in his position under the other brute. But he knew that Ker was having his own issues, ones that he needed to deal with outside of Abendrot. And there was nothing wrong with that, the brute was not judging the old leader. The wolves in this pack preferred to deal with their problems on their own, and he could only assume that Ker was doing just that. If the titan were to return, Grey Wind would gladly give the brute his kingdom back, but there had to be someone to take over, even if it was only temporary. They could not just run around with no leadership, even if the wolves in Abendrot were independent beings, they still needed an alpha. But if he had been the one being told that another being was taking over for Kershov, he would have been hostile himself, so he did not blame some of them for being unsure about it. Though no one had outright denied that he should the alpha, it was more of how much trust they were giving him compared to how much trust they had had in Kershov. The other brute had been in the leader for as long as any of them could remember, and with that came trust and respect. Grey Wind still had to earn theirs. But that was why he liked this pack. They were smart and did not just hand their trust and loyalties toe very varg that walked in, they appreciated the importance of respect being earned.

And now the pack seemed to have adjusted fairly well. He knew that it would take time for things to feel normal again, but if he didn’t move on then how would the others? The brute had been keeping himself busy recently, going on border patrols often, making his scent the dominant one on the trees and shrubbery that encircled Abendrot’s lands. This was the easy job, being left alone to himself and not having to deal with others. He had already run into a stranger at the borders recently, a female from Malignant Felicity looking to make an alliance. That was the first business he had had to deal with as the alpha and not just another ranked wolf. They were still in the process of discussing the alliance. It was not something that the brute was just going to agree to. He had no contact with Malignant Felicity in the past and he was not just going to agree with no reason to do so. He knew that there were rumors about Malignant that were similar to the rumors about his own pack, but did that mean they needed to be allies? If they could not offer anything for Abendrot he saw no benefit in it and would not agree to it. He would have to see what the female named Katniss had to say on behalf of her own pack.

As the brute was carrying his paws through the trees, the sound of foreign vocals reached his audettes. He tilted his head, pinpointing where this stranger was calling from. They were not vocals he recognized, but the fact that they were making themselves known made him feel they probably were not a threat. But then again, they could be doing that to throw them off. His large form quickly turned to approach the stranger. He was more than familiar with these lands now, and his stilts carried him swiftly through the all too familiar trees. His yellow orbs caught the sight of a midnight colored brute sitting at the borders, waiting. Grey Wind made himself present as he pushed through the trees, his eyes watching the other male carefully "So, what brings a stranger to Abendrot’s borders today?” He did not waste time with small talk, getting right to the point of the matter and waiting to see what this male had to say.

"Fight back,"He snarled.
