Jean Iron speaks to MPFN

Jean Iron by
On Thurs. Apr. 21, 2016 7:30 PM at the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre in Midland, Ontario's most famous birdwatcher will be speaking to the Midland-Penetanguishene Field Naturalists at their April monthly meeting. Her topic will be "Arctic Wildlife of Canada, Iceland and Greenland."
Jean was president of the Ontario Field Ornithologists for 9 years and edited its newsletters for 14 years. She is a retired school principal with a master's degree in education from the University of Toronto. She is a natural guide and gifted teacher who is always willing to share her expertise with others.
In previous visits Jean taught the MPFN all about gulls and shared her adventures doing shorebird surveys on James Bay. She is just back from leading a birding tour on the Amazon and into Peru.
In 2014 and 2015, Jean visited Iceland, James Bay, Nunavut and Greenland. Her presentation will show and contrast the wide diversity of habitats, birdlife, mammals and wildflowers found in these four areas of the North. Those who have seen Jean before know that she is a very powerful speaker who will have lots of new stories to tell about her adventures in nature.
Admission for MPFN members to this event is free. The general public is invited to attend and to consider making a $5 donation to cover overhead costs. If you decide to join that night the 5 dollars will be deducted from the membership fee. Memberships are Family $45, Adult $25, Under 30 Free.
The MPFN are a group of nature enthusiasts who meet once a month on the 3rd Thursday of the month at the Wye Marsh. Their goals are to study and appreciate nature, to protect and preserve wildlife and the environment, to stimulate public interest in, and promote protection and preservation of nature.
