A male Louisiana Waterthrush was singing in Copeland Forest this morning.
From the main parkinglot on Ingram road, cross the railroad tracks and turn left. This path goes by three ponds. The bird is singing in the drainage gully of the third pond where a large windblown hemlock has fallen.
This must be the same bird that has been on territory for three years in a row now.
Also, a Red-eared Slider was basking with several Painted Turtles at the aforementioned second pond. This individual has successfully overwintered a Canadian winter now at least three times. Replies:
