If I were a rose experiencing the summer’s bloom,
I’ll shower you with the best of fragrance
Oh but I’m a shadow in the midst of winter’s doom
Starved and withering, life’s lost its elegance
A pity life’s built like vegetables
Happily ever after a tale of the fables
Upon dawn we are born, fed and watered
By dusk we stand fleshless and tattered
The poet questions his futility
Mother Nature though rich with fertility
Cannot erase the ultimate fact
Not even by swearing a pact
Humans and animal revel in their youth
In a blink it’s lost, the bitter truth.
