Several species of alvar plants are at their peak blooming this week. I observed Field Chickweed, Early Buttercup, Early Saxifrage, Prairie Smoke, Fragrant Sumac, Painted Cup, Dog Violet, Long-leaved Bluets, Serviceberry, Barren Strawberry, Miterwort, and Bastard Toadflax all in bloom. Of course there are also lots of Common Dandelion and Shepard's Purse also in bloom.
