During the day, sentries guard the sleeping. When the sky is dark and the moon dances with the stars, this is when the real fun begins. Munashii Gekko's forest is the only haunt where you can find your local misfits all in one place. A land of the forbidden and forgotten, a place that is riddled with dangers of a whole different kind. The wolves here have long misplaced their rightful minds, and now live like creatures damned to prowl and lurk through the night. It's easy to lose yourself here, sanity was sure to fade away and wither; there was never anything normal about this nefarious nest. The silent threats that whispered in the breeze were enough to deter even the largest of demons around. It was not strength nor wit that ensured your survival here with Eric, and challengers would be torn down with a morose lethality - there was nothing left in his cold blue eyes that promised mercy to anyone who dared to overstep their worth. So, would you give up the sun for the moon and stars? Do you have enough vigor to become a well regarded sentry? - Put on a game face to step up and pass the sepia king's test or turn and leave before he catches your scent. You never know who wants to snack on your delicious blood in this forest.

ooc; for everyone else’s reference, this post is taking place after his private thread with horizon. i just didn’t want him to seem too unavailable.

ic; A couple of hot summery weeks had passed by since Titan was introduced as a co-alpha in Munashii Gekko. The introductory meeting had gone well. There was some justifiable uncertainty from some members but no one had thrown up any objections and were, at the very least, willing to test the waters. They trusted Ameira and that was what had really set the tone for the Demonican wolf’s acceptance into the role. He was eager to begin restructuring and putting new programs into motion, but for the first month or so he decided to take it slow. He and Ameira had introduced the new system for ranks at the first meeting and that, along with learning they had a new alpha to pledge to, was enough for the pack members to mull over for a while. So he laid back. He familiarized himself with the land; getting into the habit of going around the border and snaking through the many trails several times a day. Other than Horizon, he hadn’t spent any significant time with any members yet. They all seemed pretty low key and mostly did their own thing unless they were summoned. Hopefully the new jobs would bring forth more opportunities for interaction between everyone. He wasn’t going to force anyone into any socializing they didn’t wish to do, but Titan’s vision for the pack didn’t stop at just a well fed and protected pack, but a tight knit family group. A real interactive community.

The day had been a scorcher and other than making his usual rounds, the bi-color wolf spent the hottest hours of the afternoon curled up in a den that was dug out within the roots of a large sycamore deep in the thickest parts of Munashii’s forest. He drifted in and out of dreamless sleep and by the time he was fully conscious again it was night. It wasn’t just the natural cooldown in temperature that made him immediately feel better. Titan felt at home in the dark. The darkness ran its fingers through his fur and blended with his colors. It was a reflection of a darkness in him that he would probably never shake altogether but he could manipulate it to his will now. The darkness did not lash out from him on its own accord. Anyone who threatened his home or upset the balance of his pack. Those were the only ones who would get a taste of his demons. He had always been a fiercely (immaturely) jealous mate with Akina, especially when they had first gotten together. The size of that protective jealousy increased but only slightly when they had the pups. Now, with Munashii Gekko, the range of his jealously had expanded to the borders of the land and covered each and every lupine soul within. His life was nothing if not a testimony that your worst flaws won’t necessarily go away, but they can grow into something that you can bend to your own will. You can manipulate your flaws into doing something good.

Despite the refreshed feeling from dozing all day and waking up in the middle of night, Titan debated sleeping on until morning. Lacking an ability to really move forward with any pack business until probably the next pack meeting, the new alpha had been feeling a little cabin feverish in the last couple days. He didn’t want to leave the pack to go hunt or recruit just yet lest a pack member needed to seek him out for questions regarding ranks or just wanting to connect and he wasn’t available. He thought of maybe calling out for a few wolves to gather to plan an outing but that still seemed like something that should wait. Or should it? Hell, if he got bored enough and was left to his own devices long enough he might just go for it anyways. But not in the middle of the night. And with no other ideas of what to do why not sleep through till morning? After several minutes of internal arguments, he decided to get up and greet the night. He crawled out of the den and spent a good minute stretching the sleep out of his well-muscled body. He gave the air a long sniff and didn’t pick up anyone within his immediate vicinity. Blood Titan’s scarlet paws began a leisurely pace towards the closest body of water that he knew of – a quaint little pond on the edge of a plush meadow. He kept his ears and nose open along the trail as he went; maybe there were some other night owls in the pack he could find lurking around in the shadows.
