She bared her teeth towards me as if she actually held the right, as if she actually made some attempt to threaten me, both golden eyes lifting upward in surprise at the gesture though I remained calmly where I stood all the same. She would never be nearly fast enough to strike me even if she chose and yet the matter still remained. This was my pack, our land, not her own and as such her aggression was misplaced, misguided at best. Either she was lost or confused or both, my gaze remaining levelly on her own, watching each gesture, each movement of muscle. I had no intention of striking her first, especially not without reason and yet it seemed, at least so far, she had no reason for her arrival here. I could not allow her to progress, not the way she was, not as a danger to my pack. Her voice saw both my ears of earthen chocolate hue come forward, head tilting slightly at her ever curious words, my tail flicking though remaining upward still atop my lanky, light, scruffy form. Her daughter? If she had come to seek a missing child then truly there was little need for her aggression, my features frowning slightly though my voice remained as polite as always. After all- this is simply a misunderstanding to my mind. Whatever words I had been about to speak, however, were cut short by her next sentence, my own heckles lifting slightly upon my spine in momentary, well, dissatisfaction really as she moved to shove past myself.
“I asked you to stop. I asked you nicely. I offered you respect and you can offer me the same. If you are missing a child then I will help you find her, if you are here to bark ridiculous threats at me and this pack I will chase you out of it. She wandered here by mistake, as you said, no one took her so you don’t need to be so snarly about it. You might give someone the wrong idea.”
Well. I always was honest. My lean form shifted, long limbs carrying myself back in front of her once more. The words were light, easy ad yet my tone hardly lacked any confidence. I was good at my job. I had grown fond of the fields and the land I called home. I had even grown fond of the Alpha pair- unusual though they were, I found myself desiring to please them. Maybe I would never impress my Father, maybe I would never be enough for him, but, well, I hoped I was enough for Asteraia. Besides, how did I know she was telling even myself the truth? She may have no child at all. She may simply be trying to get in to attack someone. Especially considering she seems not to know the name of herself or this apparent missing child, my gaze narrowing further.
“There are a lot of red, white and black wolves in this pack. You won’t find her without my help and I cannot let you go alone- but I will help you all the same. I’m Galileo.”
I nodded my assurance. She was either lying to me and as such I would catch her out and escort her from the pack, or she was, well, just a mother worried about her child and that I understand. I am a nice guy, in the end, but im also good at my job. Today though, I am sure I can manage both. I shifted backwards, leaving space between us once more- a space that was rather suddenly filled by the flying form of Mistress Tick Tock. Well- I had warned the intruder hadn’t I? My own tail lowered, form stepping back to afford the Alphess her space, head dipped in a moment of respect all the same as I shifted to stand at her side now, leaving her to speak. She was reasonable, her words matching my own in that regard, offering to take the female right to her child the moment she calmed down as I remained silently now beside my chosen Alphess. For now I simply watched, hopeful the stranger would take a moment to gather herself and simply allow us to take her to the child she was missing, my own form neutral, calm- golden eyes resting upon the strangers own, affording her the faintest of smiles of assurance that the Alphess’ words were indeed worthy of being trusted.
