An invitation. It was a curious thing. Asteraia was far from the world of Iromar but there was still an interest in seeing the pack that was so simular but so different from his own. He had thought about it for a while before he had come to a quiet conclusion that he was, in fact, going to go. If only to hear the story and see what else the world had to offer. He assured both his parents that he would be safe, though Despoina bared her teeth in displeasure, her slate eyes narrowing in suspicion. Not only did he inform them he was going to go to the story, but that he would be more than happy to bring his sister with him, too. It was clear from Mother Despoina’s expression that something about these statements were not entirely what she had expected from him. Maybe it was the lack of a question, maybe it was the dry emotionless tone in which he had told her. Either way it seemed to leave very little room for discussion. It was through this that he was ‘permitted’ to go.
On the sunrise of the day the dark pup slipped through the mists in the direction of Asteraia. It was going to be a long journey, but it was one he was quietly excited to make. Each step was purposeful. Slate eyes looked around him as he passed over the trails, careful to take note so he would not lose himself on the way back. He was entirely aware that Mother Despoina was following close behind, her imposing bulk as protective as ever, but otherwise he moved on his own. Once he came into the gathering of pups and parents he surveyed them all intently. He took in their differences in nature and play. On some level he was a little confused about how they acted. Easy affection and laughter were not well known in his home den. A small smile snuck onto his lips. It was beautiful to see, kind words spoken easily and excitement at the sight of strangers and family alike. As pleased as he was, he was still uncertain and held himself back, watching before wanting to step into the world he knew nothing about.
Unable to keep to the non-existent shadows, Despoina grudgingly plopped a distance away, her keen eyes watching for any who might try to interrupt this otherwise happy gathering.
