- the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
- anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
- adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
- the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
- the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors

nuru
Nuru's hopes began to rise as he progressed further and further through the territory without any incident. His ears started to concentrate more on the quiet whispers of the grass and chirping of the crickets than keeping alert for other horses. The appaloosa glanced up at the stars and swished his tail peacefully. He almost considered turning around to explore the calm plains. It would be nice to find somewhere to stop and take a nap, especially since he just battled the ocean to reach this island. The cool night wind ruffled his mane and nearly swept away the piercing voice of a filly.

His head turned sharply and his ears swiveled to point at the approaching figure. For a moment he hesitated, then he slowed down to a stop and turned to face the yearling. As much as he wanted to dash to the tantalizing close trees, his curiosity got the better of him. He wanted to know more about this calm land and its residents. He blinked down at the dark yearling once she caught up and smiled. "Is this your home?" he asked, realizing as the words came out of his mouth how ignorant his question must sound. Still, he kept his smile up and wondered where the rest of the herd could be.
