GUIDELINES

- the Prairie stands as a symbol of peace and prosperity among the islands
- anyone is welcome to live here so long as they do not bring harm to the Prairie or any of it's residents
- adventure and exploration is not only allowed, but encouraged! residents are asked to use their better judgement and not travel to places that could bring them harm
- the head of the prairie has final say in all prairie matters. the secondary and third positions are not able to be challenged for and are selected by the head
- the guardians take on a more active role in the prairie; they must protect the inhabitants of the prairie and go on patrols of the prairie borderlines and shore. they can welcome strangers to the prairie and invite anyone to live here, though they must inform one of the leaders of any newcomers or visitors

nuru
Nuru's ears turned backwards as the yearling started to circle him. He didn't like how thoroughly she examined him and he wondered if she was sizing him up for something. He didn't like that thought. No one had ever examined him this much (well, aside from Chiara, but she was a different story) or at least hadn't been so open about it! He flicked his tail uneasily and awkwardly shifted his weight. His father's herd consisted of many roan and appaloosa coats, and even a few sabinos. He didn't even think that perhaps his coloring wasn't as common on these islands.

He blinked at her answer. "Where is the Inlet?" he asked, not sure if it belonged to these Islands or if the yearling's home resided across the ocean like his own. He flared his nostrils and perked his ears again at her question. "I don't think so," he admitted, "but if I am, I'd like to know why my family kept it a secret." Before he could say anything else, he spied another yearling approaching. The boy was spotted like himself. Nuru's ears flipped backwards, wondered why he was so interesting to the filly if her friend looked like him. He turned his head to keep a closer eye on the approaching yearling and let his ears flick forward again.

The appaloosa nearly laughed at the boy's exclamation. The yearlings reminded him of himself and Rochelle when they were younger. He remembered always warning her of everything during their adventures, and how nervous he had been on every journey. And now? Now the roles were reversed, and he couldn't help but wonder if she would be begging him to come back to the herd and meet their grandfather if she had followed him out here. He tossed his mane and gave the yearlings a wide smile. "I can escort you back to your herd, if you want."

Nuru shifted his weight and lifted his muzzle to glance at the stars again. These yearlings were full of such interesting and odd questions. "I'm very sure I'm not. I'll keep a lookout for him." He lowered his head and took a small step away from the yearlings. He didn't want to get them in trouble, but his straining ears showed just how curious he was about them. He wanted to meet more of their herd and see if they were anything like his father's herd. He wanted to be reminded of his family so he wouldn't miss them so greatly. He flicked his tail, "Actually, could you stay a little longer? Or would you get into even more trouble?"
