The young mare was already melting at his color alone. At first sight, her heart was swept away by his gold-colored fur, striking eyes, and crisp markings. With each passing moment, she is dragged deeper into a state of hopeless infatuation. Each poetic word that passes his lips, and each shimmering droplet of water clinging to his cheeks makes her ever weaker in the knees.
Rowena came to these islands with a purpose. She hoped to find herself, and to justify her own existence, but instead, she has found him, this beautiful stallion, alluring enough to make any filly swoon. In this moment, she forgets her father. She forgets questions of her origins. The past no longer matters. It is only the here and now. It is only the future, and hopefully it's a bright future lit by this golden ray of sunshine.
The stallion leads the way, and the mare eagerly follows. He disappears into a space well hidden by the falls, and she chases retreating strands of his bright tail. It takes a moment for her eyes to adjust to the dim light, but as the cavern comes into focus, Rowena is, once again, awed.
The cave is alive. Alien rock formations shimmer with moisture, and small, low-light plants cling to the crevices. The falls themselves are a hazy window to the outside world, distorting the objects of the world beyond into abstract works of art.
There isn't much room at the mouth of the cave. Rowena is forced to stand very close to the handsome stallion, so close that the swells of their bellies touch with each intake of breath. Every fleeting hint of contact sends a wave of excitement and pleasure through her body.
Rowena puts her lips to the stallion's ear and utters over the roar of the falls, "It's beautiful."
