REVOLVE WITHIN.

Maslakhat had gone.

It had recently occurred to Valve that the bastard Yusuf might not be lingering on the islands any longer. The pair of Akhal-Tekes had traversed every corner of Salem without spotting a single blasphemous hair. Even the assassination of the blind seer had not flushed him out. Thus, it seemed only natural to conclude that somehow he had left, and it also made sense that Maslakhat would go after him. If she were lucky, Yusuf drowned in the ocean and her nephew would return soon. After all, there were very few others that she trusted, and that had proven their loyalty.

Another, was Gabbar.

With each step she took upon the Dunes, the sand beneath her hooves fell away slowly and with trepidation for her return. The wind dared not tousle her sparse mane and the heat of the sun only made her glimmer like a mirage. She had been gone for two years, but the landscape of Salem had hardly changed. The gods need not reimagine the desert for her benefit.

She pointed her long and narrow nose east, flagged her tail and waited.
