Ajani
Asteraia
Ajani is not one to be overtaxed by the minute details of life, certainly not in the face of a lovely creature like this bobtailed female. His hardships were not pleasant things, but his life was not entirely cruel like some he had both witnessed and heard through the metaphorical grapevine. His fanciful flirtation and nanchalant playfulness seems to attract her well enough, so his mind turns from telling her all fact and instead bends him into fun-loving chuckles and a small quip of “Deserts and badlands, mostly.” His voice is as companionable as it could ever be, “My story mostly consists of shedding too much, being too hot, and being the odd man out when everyone thinks long and lithe and sleek are the marks of a good wolf.”
Just at the mark of the end of his explanation, shortened as it was, he notices movement on the horizon and rather swiftly takes a step to one side, eyeing and calculating the wolf on her approach. There is not fear, only caution, and it is clear that he is prepared to make himself a meat shield for his new young lady, if it comes to it. The neutral nature of the tail does not sway him, having seen plenty a mad beast change on a dime, but the initial nod said enough that the light raise of hackles and defensive fight-or-flight posture rested once more.
“Nakato...you have brought...a friend?”
He, remaining unaddressed, was cautious to cut into answering the question. It was not his place if this wolf was another packmate and otherwise only wished to check in on the head healer. Instead, he took to nodding a greeting and allowing his tail to drop just a little further than was usual. He did not grovel well, but acknowledging his status in this situation was more than easily done. When their exchange seemed finish he offered, “I am Ajani and your Nakato was just inquiring if I might need a place to stay while I make my home in this new place.”
