I am the razor in the hands of your heart;
And I am the razor in the hands of God.
The palomino mare walks wearily into the shade. There she stands idly, listening to the stallion who has folded onto the sand. She watches him from behind wide, though tired, chocolate-colored eyes before deciding to join him. She winces slightly as she bends at the knees, her exhausted limbs aching in protest until she plops lightly into the sand. A rare breeze reaches them and she enjoys it as it ruffles the long strands of her blonde mane and damp pelt. One golden lobe flicks forward lazily as she listens to his explanation. It doesn't take long for her body temperature to start rising again. Her nostrils flare as she huffs lightly, the mare taking shallow and quick breathes from her position in the warm sand.
She takes note of his tone and his careful word choice when Nereid comes up. Evaline doesn't blame him. Shamwari still stole from him, even if they were able to come to amicable agreement at the end of it all. Evaline decides to let it go -- there was no use discussing matters that were behind them anymore, even if they painful in some way to both of them.
Gabbar continues on and Evaline commits the name "Avangeline" to memory. She takes note of the way Gabbar smiles and winces when he tells her she's sweet. She chooses not to respond, and instead looks away briefly to the mounds of sand that surround them. It is seemingly endless, and for a moment she feels as if the sand will cave in on her one day. She feels captured, stuck, caged.
For a moment salty tears begin to well in her eyes as this profound realization begins to set in. But Gabbar speaks again and she blinks them away, snorting a few times before she turns to look at him again. She allows a weak smirk to cross over her pink lips. Gabbar is kind. She is thankful for that. But she can't help but feel homesick today and probably for what will likely be the next series of days as she grows used to the way of life in the Dunes.
