Of the Blood of Old Solevion, The Unbroken, Queen of Spirane and Protector of the Realm
Drawing closer to the girl, I picked up on her nervousness. Her bodice slipped low to the ground, offering a submissive stance as I approached. After we had both spoken, acknowledging one another, I stepped forward and brushed my shoulder against hers in a more personal greeting. I hoped she would take it as a sign that her submission was recognized and appreciated, but not necessary for her to prolong. After the brief embrace, I stepped back once more to get a better look at her. She seemed healthy enough, though perhaps a tad underweight, and I couldn't help but wonder where she and her family had been all this time. Had they taken refuge in another pack, or wandered beyond the bounds of Moladion altogether? There were many questions, but I did not wish to further strain the young girl who seemed wrought with anxiety the way it was.
Offering a smile, my tail waved slowly back and forth, a friendly gesture meant to give her some comfort. "There is nothing quite like coming home again, is there?" Whether her apprehension had to do with me or something else entirely, I wanted her to know she was welcome here. Jubilee asked no questions and made no requests; and I did not want to burden her with too much, but I did have to wonder if she had come to stay, or simply come to visit. Only she could make that known to me, but I would not pressure her for an answer to the unspoken question.
Instead, I glanced up and to the side, towards the trail along the periphery of the pack lands that I had been following before she had called for me. "I was taking a midnight border patrol - it's much too hot during the day for it. Would you care to join me, Jubilee?" The invitation was open ended - she could certainly say no if she wanted to. History had shown me that the looseness of simply walking in one's company could alleviate social stresses, the movement of matched strides allowing a sense of relaxation and ease to develop between wolves. I thought, perhaps, if she cared to join me, I might glean more information on the young girl's homecoming, and what had become of her family. I waited for Jubilee's acceptance or denial, and moved accordingly once it was given.
